Grab a blanket and head to M Street Park on Monday night and enjoy a free movie.  As part of Mayor Menino’s Movie Nights,  Miracle – the story of the 1980 USA Olympic hockey team – will be shown at M Street Park at dusk.  The Children’s Museum “The Big Cake Tour” will host kids activities from 5pm to 7pm.  Skinny Popcorn will provide the popcorn.  Thanks Mayor Menino!

Mix and mingle with your neighbors! Join Social Southie, Caught in Southie, SBANP, & Planet Southie at Lincoln (425 West Broadway) to get to know your neighbors on Tuesday, August 6th at 6:30pm! These days, it’s all about having each other’s backs, no matter whether you’ve lived here your entire life, or you moved in yesterday. We want to invite you to come down, have some fun, and meet some of your neighbors. Let’s really get to know each other in a relaxed, social setting. Hone your sixth sense when it comes to being a victim of a crime.  Learn tips on how to be a “less attractive” target.  On Tuesday, August 6th from 6:30pm-8:30pm, you’re invited to take Reducing Your Odds: A Street Smarts Seminar brought to you by the good people of the Boston Police Neighborhood Watch Unit.  This important class will take place at the Curley Community Center (K Street side) and focus on awareness tips for greater safety at home, work and in public.  Discussion will include how an assailant chooses a victim, when and where an attack is likely to occur, and how to make yourself less of a target.  Participants will gain a sense of their own abilities and understand options available to them in case of an assault.  In short, you’ll learn how to put together a plan to “reduce your odds” of becoming a victim.   Walk tall, Southie!
