Start off the New Year healthy!  Southie’s newest yoga studio, B Yoga (516 East Second Street) is promoting health in 2013.  Stop by and purchase a special membership featuring unlimited classes for the month of January for just $99.  Also, on deck is a nutrition reboot with a JOOS cleanse that begins Monday, January 7th.  And really, who couldn’t use a nutrition reboot after the debauchery of the holidays.  Do it!

Plan a Gallery Crawl for Saturday, January 12th! Two galleries within walking distance are having receptions for their two new group shows.  Proof Gallery(516 East Second Street) is opening its eagerly awaited annual: Boston Does Boston VI. It is an exhibition of six local artists: John C. Gonzalez, Susan Metican, Joe Joe Orangias, Jeannie Simms, Nick Sullivan and Thomas Willis. Opening reception from 6pm-8pm.  Then head down the street to Medicine Wheel’s Spoke Gallery (110 K Street) featuring a group show with  work by: Ahmed Abdalla, Genara Banzon, L’Merchie Frazier, Dell M. Hamilton, Josephine Pergola, Dan McCole, Courtney Moy, and Mario Quiroz. The exhibition investigates immigration, migration, and/or family trees/legacy.  Five of the featured artists have ties to South Boston.  The gallery and connected events are free and open to the public. Opening reception from 5pm to 7:30pm.

Foodie’s is now open! Finally! We have been waiting with bated breath for Foodie’s to open.  We saw the construction.  We heard about the fire.  Then there was food being stocked on the shelves.  And today, under the radar, Foodie’s has opened its door – “soft opening” style. Located at the corner of C and West Broadway, the specialty grocery store has more of an official grand opening in the works with specials and discounts in February.  Stop by and welcome Foodie’s to the neighborhood!
