We all now how devastating Sandy was to New Jersey and New York. A group of local residents are pitching in and lending a hand. They will be collecting items for care packages to donated to a neighborhood in Long Beach, New York. Boxes will be delivered the 200 plus miles via U-Haul.

Calling all South Boston business owners! Mass Bay Credit Union, along with Friends of Fort Point are hosting an A Street Business to Business meeting on Wednesday, November 7th from 5pm-6:30pm at Mass Bay Credit Union (147 West Fourth Street). Learn about the developments extending from Fort Point to South Boston. Attendees will learn about the State Street development at Channel Center and existing businesses along A Street. Honor a local hero! Sister Ann will be honored by the Paraclete Academy for her over 40 years of service to Boston’s children on Thursday November 8 at Boston College High School (150 Morrissey Boulevard). She will be stepping down from her day to day responsibilities related to the South Boston After School Academy. Tickets are $100. On a side note, Sister Ann will be honored at the Celtics game of Wednesday, November 7th for being one of “The Heroes Among Us.” The Heroes Among Us Award is presented to an individual or individuals who, through their unique commitment and humanitarian spirit, have made exceptional and lasting contributions to our community. At each home game, the Celtics and their fans have saluted the exemplary efforts of these citizens during a special in-game presentation on the legendary parquet floor. The Wood School of Irish Dance would like to invite you to an afternoon of irish music and dancing. On Sunday, November 11th from 2pm to 5pm enjoy live Irish music and learn traditional dances like the Siege of Ennis, Highland Fling and more. There will be raffles, a silent auction and a cash bar. This foot-stomping, hand clapping event takes place at the Seaport Restaurant (367 East Eighth Street).
Tickets are $10 or $25 for a family. All proceeds go to the Woods School Dancers competing at the New England Regional Championships. It’s a fun afternoon to mix and mingle and Monday, November 12th is a holiday – Veteran’s Day – so you can really whoop it up!
