Raise your spirits whle you watch the debate As the presidential election draws near, the Capiz Lounge at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel is serving up some special cocktails to help get guests in the political spirit. Belly up to the bar on order up The Scallywag, a perfect combination of spicy and sweet, with highlights of maple, pomegranate and citrus to offset the strong flavor of the bourbon or The Capitol Hill, a combination of bourbon, rum, sweet vermouth, and bitters. The political potions can be enjoyed through November 6th, and will be an ideal accompaniment to the presidential debates— which will be shown live at the Capiz Lounge.  The debate is on Monday, October 22 at 9pm. 

Celebrate fall! Rosa Mexicano (155 Seaport Boulevard), located on Southie’s waterfront, is celebrating the new season by rolling out its picnic tables at its first annual Fall Harvest Dinner.  The menu will feature highlights such as Fall Guacamole with Toasted Hazelnuts and Pomegranate Seeds; Wild Mushroom and Chorizo Salad with Butternut Squash; Grilled Lobster and Scallop Tacos with Papaya and Pumpkin Seeds; and Ancho Chile Pumpkin Cheesecake.  This special celebration takes place on Wednesday, October 24th 6:30-9:30.  Tickets are Tickets available for pre-purchase at www.rosamexicano.com for $45/person (plus tax and gratuity), which includes 4-course meal (cocktails purchased separately).  To see a full menu visit, https://caughtinsouthie.com/restaurants-bar/celebrate-fall
 
Planet Southie is continuing to work on solutions on making Southie become a little greener when it comes to accessible, alternative transportation option.  On Thursday, October 25 Planet Southie’s monthly meeting will focus on better bus, walking and biking options for South Boston. The meeting will take place from 6:30 – 7:30 pm at the Distillery Building 516 E 2nd St.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend this important meeting. 

Put on a costume and help support St. Peter Academy!  You just might win a cool 5 Grand!  On Friday, October 26th at 7pm The St. Peter Academy Spooktacular Reverse Raffle takes place at the legendary Lithuanian Club on West Broadway.  Tickets are $100 to participate in the raffle for $5000. ($20 to attend the party but not participate in the raffle.) There will be appetizers, desserts, a DJ and a cash bar.  Who knows?  You just might be the lucky winner! 

A local favorite, The Children’s Magical Halloween Castle, takes place this weekend on Saturday, October 27th and Sunday, October 28th 12pm-4pm each day.  The Castle Island Association transforms Fort Independence at Castle Island into a family friendly Halloween showcase.  Enjoy magic tricks, storytelling, popcorn and treats.  Don’t forget to wear your costume.  This event is free and open to the public.
