Tropical punch! It’s Tiki Week at Local 149  – August 13th-19th.  This tropical event features a Polynesian prix fix, a St. Barths Rhum launch party on Thursday, and a huge Tiki Bash on Saturday night.  There will also be a raffle that includes $1,000 12 year rhum gift pack with 14K gold punch glasses.  Proceeds from Thursday night’s raffle goes to Scavenger Hunt in Southie and the Veterans of Foreign War.  For more information visit https://caughtinsouthie.com/restaurants-bar/its-tiki-week?

Donate clothes! Clean out those closets and dressers and help support the Big Brother Big Sister programs and the children they support!  On Wednesday, August 15th,  The Big Brother Big Sister Foundation along with the South Boston Fire Stations will be hosting a clothing collection from 10am to 7pm.  Kindly donate gently worn clothing for men, women and children.  They will be collecting small household items too!  You can drop off to either Southie Fire Station at 272 D Street and 700 East Fourth Street.
One good deed deserves another?Donors are welcome to take part in a cookout at the fire stations from 12pm-1pm and 5:30pm-7pm.  There will be raffles and giveaways from local vendors at the event.  We also heard a rumor that local sports players may be making a cameo appearances too.  For more information about Big Brother Big Sister visit www.bbsfoundation.org

Make a reservation!  It’s restaurant week in Boston August 19th – August 24th and August 26th – August 31st.  Boston’s best restaurants will be offering tasty prix fixe menus for lunch and/or dinner for a bargain:  2-course lunch for $15.12, 3-course lunch for $20.12, 3-course dinner for $33.12.  Southie’s own Moko is participating – a perfect excuse to try Southie’s newest sushi and Japanese restaurant. 
Know what would make restaurant week in Boston even better? Free wine!  Dinner is better with wine at Aquitaine, GasLight, Union Bar and Grille and Metropolis Cafe. They will be offering a 3 course dinner for only $33.12 and a free glass of wine.

Ferry, music and an island! Berklee College of Music, Boston Harbor Island Alliance, and the Boston Harbor National Park have joined forces for the third year to bring free live music to Georges Island.  On Saturday, August 18th, enjoy the music stylings Helicopria, Julia Easterlin, and Columbus.   Visitors to historic Fort Warren on Georges Island will be able to enjoy Berklee students and alumni performing rock, funk, pop, r&b, soul, hip-hop, Latin folk, and more.  So hop on a ferry and enjoy an afternoon of music and fun in the sun.  The concert begins at 3pm and ends at 6pm.
