Get involved. Attend the Public Safety Meeting on Monday, April 30th a 6:30pm at the Tynan School (650 East Fourth Street). Senator Hart, Councilor Linehan, Representative Collins, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office and the South Boston Neighborhood Associations, are hosting a meeting to discuss the recent tragedy of Barbara Coyne and other public safety issues affecting our community. Police officials from the Boston Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police, as well as officials from the substance abuse agencies will be in attendance. We hope you will attend this very important meeting. Be informed. Get involved.

Spring has sprung at Local 149 (149 P Street)! Featuring new items such as Couscous Dressed Salmon, Fish and Chips, and Rosemary Rack of Lamb and the Dark and Stormy Ice Cream Sammie, the menu at Local is a breath of fresh air. Don’t worry crowd favorites such as Hog Wings and Fried Brussels Sprouts are still on the menu but we have a feeling you might have some new favorites!

Word to the mother. We are looking for the mother of all pictures for our first ever Mother’s Day Picture Contest! Send us endearing snapshots of long ago or funny photos of mom and kids. Maybe your lucky enough to have three generations of moms captured in a photo. You can even send us pictures of beautiful handmade cards or signs that you received for Mother’s Day. Just as long as mom is the subject! We are taking submission until Sunday, May 6th. We will then select the top 5 and have the readers of Caught in Southie vote for their favorite! Our winner will receive a very special Mother’s Day Spa Package courtesy of Nurture Spa and Salon.

Celebrate Mexican Independence Day by drinking many frozen margaritas and chowing down on chips and guacamole.
