the week of January 23rd, 2012

Help a brother out.  With the recent snow on the ground, the city is looking for volunteers to help shovel out hydrants in your neighborhood.  Be a good citizen and help!  https://caughtinsouthie.com/feature/adopt-hydrant

Resolve to eat healthy.  With all the abuse your body has taken since the holidays and the Pat’s season i.e. drinking like it’s nobody’s business, eating dips, and skipping your vegetables, Local 149 would like to get you back on a healthy track.  Join them for their Resolution Dinner featuring hand crafted tonic and elixir inspired cocktails paired with fine holistic cuisine.  We’re feeling healthier already.  For menu: http://www.local149.com/content/events.html#resolution

Four!  We realize golf season seems so far away, but it will be here before you know it and we want you to be prepared. The Boston Parks and Recreation department has announced a limited number of 2012 season permits for the City of Boston’s two municipal golf courses – the William J. Devine Golf Course at Franklin Park and the George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park.  For a downloadable application go to: www.cityofbostongolf.com

Bring the kids!  The Institute of Contemporary Art (100 Northern Ave) will host a free family fun day from 10am-4pm on Saturday, January 28th.  Families will enjoy a series of family films featuring “Huey” of Films by Huey.   Also included will be works by children, teens and professional filmmakers.  Admission is free for two adults per family with children under 12 years old.

Warm up!  With temperature being on the chilly side these days, we say embrace your inner child and warm up with some hot chocolate.  The Java House(541 East Broadway) – in addition to delicious coffee –  has amazing creamy and rich hot chocolate.  Treat yourself to one this week!
