Digging South Boston – uncovering Southie history.  Believe it or not the city of Boston has an archeologist – Joe Bagely and Joe will be at the South Boston Public Library (646 East Broadway) on Monday at 6:30pm to discuss the rich history of Southie!  The South Boston Historical Society will be co-sponsoring this free event and topics of discussion will include Castle Island and Dorchester Heights, and also Southie as an industrial center and glass manufacturing hub.  We have a feeling lots of fun facts and tidbits will be unearthed at this interesting lecture.  So make a plan to learn a little Southie history – you never know when it will come in handy.

Teach the children well.  The Paraclete Foundation Annual Reception happens Wednesday, February 26th at 6:30pm at BC High.  This year the Paraclete will honor Mount Washington Bank’s Ed Merritt.  Tickets are $100.  Help support this great South Boston program that enriches young lives through education.  For more information go to www.paraclete.org or email [email protected]

This ain’t your Nana’s Bingo! Gather up the girls, slips on your high heels and go play some Bingo!  This exciting night of cocktails, prizes and surprises will take place at the Seapoint Restaurant (367 East Eighth Street) on Friday, February 28th at 7pm.  There will be a cash bar, a chance to win prizes!  Tickets are $25 and are going fast.  You can reserve tables of 10 too!  Bring a snack to share!
