Give blood:
In honor of the 5th Anniversary of the death of City Councilor (and local legend) Jimmy Kelly, a blood drive will be hosted in his honor by his three children. On Saturday, January 7th from 9:30-2:30 at South Boston Catholic Academy (O and East Broadway). If you would like to donate blood, kindly call the American Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767– to reserve a time slot. If you donate, you will receive a free pound of Dunkin Donuts coffee. Wowee!
Happy Hour:
Wolfies (81 L Street) is starting off the new year right! On Thursdays from 5pm-7pm enjoy half price appetizers and $5 signature cocktails. It’s the perfect excuse to stop off on the way home from work! We are smiling already!
Mixology:
Learn how to whip up a Sidecar with style! Beginning Tuesday, January 17, Local 149 is offering Mixology 101 – a 1 hour course on how to make and serve craft cocktails at home. Bar manager Chris Olds and bartender John Mayer will mix history and practical knowledge to give participants a chance to practice with tools and techniques. Pageant time:
Does the thoughts of becoming the new Miss Boston get your heart beating a little quicker? Applications are due in just two weeks for the Miss Boston pageant! Miss Boston is Greater Boston’s most prestigious preliminary for the Miss America pageant. All applications are due on January 15, 2012 and the pageant will take place at the Omni Parker House on February 19, 2012. You never know unless you try!
