Remember.   Tuesday, April 15th will mark the first anniversary of the Marathon Monday Tragedy.  At 12pm, Vice President Joe Biden, Governor Deval Patrick, and Mayor Martin J. Walsh will gather with hundreds of survivors, first responders, and others to remember the victims of the Boston Marathon attack. There will also be a flag-raising ceremony and a moment of silence at the finish line at 2:30 p.m.  Due to this tribute, the Copley MBTA Station will be closed from noon to 3 p.m. Green Line trains will roll straight from the Hynes Convention Center to Arlington Station.

Southie is the new Paris.   South Boston is about to get its first macaronerie.  Miam Miam Macaronerie (pronounced mee-yahm mee-yahm is the french word for “yummy) will be opening very soon in an undisclosed South Boston location – very mysterious.   In the meantime, they will be taking orders, so you can get your fix for the decadent and colorful little cookie. by visiting their website: www.miammiammac.com and by calling 617-macaron (622-2766). You can also find them at their upcoming spring pop up shops in South Boston: Friday April 18th from 5:30p.m. till 8p.m. at Social Wines and on Saturday April 19th from 3p.m. till 6p.m. at the 555 Gallery. They’ll be on hand selling boxes of their macarons in time for Easter, spring, and rose season celebrations!  Sweet!

Hide and seek!  On Saturday, April 19th the South Boston MOMS Club, the South Boston Neighborhood House, and the SB Public Library will host a special Egg Hunt at BPL-South Boston Branch, from 10:00am-12:00pm. There will be two egg hunts in the garden, one for children ages 0-3, and one for older children. There will  be crafts and snacks, as well as a visit from the Easter Bunny! This event is open to the South Boston community!  Stop by and say hello!

Art in Southie! On Thursday, April 17th, there will be TWO openings at The Distillery. The Distillery Gallery will have their monthly opening and Thomas Young Gallery, a brand new addition to The Distillery community, will also be opening up their doors.  The Thomas Young Gallery will feature commissioned portraits of the gallery’s namesake Dr. Thomas Young (1731-1777) an early physician and advocate of social, political and religious freedom in colonial America. A strong supporter of the American Revolution, Dr. Young was an active member of the Continental Congress and accomplice to the Boston Tea Party.  Check it out!   FYI:For those of you that didn’t know, there is a lot of exciting art happening in our little corner of South Boston these days. There are now 6 galleries within a few blocks. That includes

The Distillery Gallery, Proof Gallery, and Thomas Young in the Distillery Building, along with Lamontagne Gallery, 555 Gallery, and Medicine Wheel’s Spoke Gallery nearby.
