  1. Children’s entertainer Jean Schwartz will be at the South Boston Branch Library (646 East Broadway) will hosting a good old fashioned sing-along featuring traditional folk songs and silly songs.  The fun begins Friday, May 20th at 10:30am.  We hope they sing “On Top of Spaghetti”!
  2. Legal Harborside (270 Northern Ave.)  – the newest addition to the Legal Seafood Empire – has opened its doors on Liberty Harborside.  Residing in Jimmy’s Harborside’s old spot, the new Legal’s floor is made of the old pilings that Jimmy’s Harborside once sat upon.  This new triple decker restaurant has a different atmosphere on each floor so there will be something for everyone! We can’t wait to sit under the retractable glass roof on the third floor and enjoy some of their famous clam chowder while taking in the view.
  3. She shoots!  She scores!  Come celebrate the 50th Anniversary of South Boston Youth Hockey.  It’s going to be an “everyone who’s anybody” type of event. This event takes place Saturday, May 21st at 6pm at the Boston Convention Center.  Tickets are $40.  Tables available too.  To purchase tickets contact Tommy McGrath at 857-204-5825.  We will see you there!
  4. Harpoon will be celebrating the soon to be arriving summer with a fun-filled festival featuring music, beer and a road race. Festivities begin on Friday, May 20th at 5:30pm to 11pm and then start all over again on Saturday, May 21st at 2pm.  If you’re not too hungover, on Sunday, May 22nd there is 5-mile road race along Southie’s waterfront.  All proceeds will benefit the Angel Fund in its fight against ALS. Admission to the Harpoon Fest is  $20.00 and includes a souvenir Pint Cup and one (1) drink ticket.  Must be 21 or older and have proper I.D.  For more information go to www.harpoonbrewery.com
  5. Need a little balance in your life? South Boston Yoga (36 West Broadway) is the place to be.  If you are a yoga beginner, Kitty’s Thursday class at 5:45pm Yoga Basics is the perfect introduction.  Her sweet yet knowledgeable instruction is never judgemental and always encouraging.  We’ve taken it and we are hooked! First class at South Boston Yoga is always free. For more information go to www.southbostonyoga.net
