Boston to Belfast Youth Empowerment Program coordinated by members of the South Boston Youth Hockey Program are hosting Substance Abuse Information Night in Southie.  Having traveled to Belfast last year for the Friendship Four, Festival of Hockey, these young Southie hockey players were profoundly impacted by the substance abuse issues they experienced on the trip to Belfast & back in their South Boston neighborhoods.

Substance Abuse Information Night, takes place at the South Boston Neighborhood House, 136 H Street on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 6pm and featuring a panel that includes 2 Time Stanley Cup Winner, & 2 Time NHL All Star Kevin Stevens, Dr. Alan Ashare & Dr. Mike Hamrock from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Tom Smith – Mass Hockey Safety Committee/founder of The Look Up Line, and other special Guests.

Activities for Substance Abuse Night includes a sneak preview of the Canadian Screen Award nominated ‘Shattered’ a documentary of Kevin Steven’s 24 year struggle with substance abuse, a informative panel discussion about substance abuse problem that is affecting the South Boston community and a Q&A segment with the panel.

“I’m looking forward to sharing my personal story of addiction with the Southie community.  Southie is a great community with deep hockey roots.  I want to do my part to help and hope my personal story can make an impact in someone’s life,” said Stevens.

 Refreshments, Raffle Prizes for all youth who attend.
