Neighborhood First Look at Dorchester Heights – Special Event on Sunday, August 17th

You’re invited to a special event to celebrate the opening of the newly renovated Dorchester Heights monument and Thomas Park! Stop by and celebrate on Sunday!
“The Dorchester Heights Monument is a defining feature of South Boston, and seeing it fully restored is something our whole community can be proud of. Thanks to the hard work of Congressman Lynch and his federal partners including the National Park Service, this landmark will continue to stand as a symbol of our part in the story of the founding of this country. Join us this Sunday from 2 to 4 PM for self-guided monument tours, ranger programs, and activities for the children as we celebrate together and look ahead to the 250th anniversary of Evacuation Day and the beginning of American independence,” says Senator Nick Collins.

Can the Park Rangers help ensure that the newly renovated Heights just doesn’t turn into a free-for-all and bathroom for all the dogs in Southie? The dog owners in this town seem to think every park is just for their dog and refuse to follow the rules like keeping them on leash and picking up after fluffy….
I second JC’s comment. The off leash dogs are out of control in Southie.
I wonder if you can go into and up the stairs to look from the top? My friend Michael Stewart were up there when we were kids and we found that the lock wasn’t snapped shut, so we went in and climbed the stairs. it was both dangerous and stupid but, when we got to the top, the view was absolutely amazing. No cell phones to take pictures, they was my only regret.
It was happening this morning at 8am! Needs to stop and tickets need to be issued, immediately. Signs are clearly posted about the rules. Time to enforce!
