Join South Boston artist Kathleen Bitetti and hear about her project Crossings: Massachusetts-Malta (2009-2019).  She’ll be speaking at the South Boston Public Library on Thursday, August 15th at 7pm.

During Bitetti’s residency at Malta’s Gozo Contemporary in 2009, she began investigating the historical connections between her home state of Massachusetts and the country of Malta and this February she completed the project.

The project consists of four works that Bitetti created from her research findings: Crossings: Dec. 16, 1773; Crossings: Emerson was Here (Valletta); Crossings: Feb. 2nd, 1945; and Crossings: HERE 2019 (Malta). All four crossings include a unique and intricate backstory that relate Malta to Massachusetts and the four works all involved the artist leaving works behind for members of the public to find.

Artwork from her show 2019 February in Malta’s Valletta Contemporary, is on display as part of South Boston’s Medicine Wheel Productions Summer Annual exhibition which runs until August 23. (110 K Street, 2nd Floor). The exhibition is free and open to the public.
