South Boston Street Festival – New Date

The South Boston Chamber of Commerce, in collaboration with the South Boston Neighborhood Development Corporation has announced that the highly anticipated 23rd South Boston Street Fest will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2023. East Broadway between I and L streets will be transformed into a vibrant and lively hub of festivities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Get all the fun details here!

MBTA Changes + Shutdown on the Horizon 

The MBTA announced last week there will be service changes in October on the Red, Orange, Green, Mattapan, Kingston, Middleborough, Greenbush, and Haverhill lines. The MBTA will continue working to improve service reliability across the system. You can get all the details here! 

Colin’s Joy Project 5K

Lace up your sneakers!  It’s the Annual Colin Joy Project 5K on September 30, 2023. The day will begin with two youth races to kick off the event, followed by a 5 km course along the scenic South Boston beaches. After the race, there will be light refreshments and entertainment to go along with the awards. Don’t forget an opportunity to grab Colin’s Joy Project merch! Colin’s Joy Project race shirt will be given to the first 250 registered 5k runners/walkers.  You can register here! 

Thomas Park/Dorchester Heights Renovations 

On Thursday, September 21st, fencing has officially gone up at Dorchester Heights/Thomas Park signally that construction will be beginning soon! This is a major renovation with some much-needed improvements coming to the Dorchester Heights Monument tower and surrounding park area.  As for the timeline of how long the park will be closed to the public, it appears it is estimated to be roughly 18 months.  We are working on a more in-depth update right now.  Stay tuned!  Get the full details.
