Shutdowns that may affect your commute
The Sumner Tunnel will be closed from July 5 to Aug. 31 for repairs. The closures are expected to increase congestion to and from the airport, prompting state officials to advise drivers to “leave your car at home” when driving in the area.
Shuttle buses will replace Red Line service between JFK/UMass and North Quincy after 8:45pm Monday through Thursday this coming week.

Save the Date – Wednesday, July 12 – The Beantown Swing Orchestra
The Beantown Swing Orchestra will perform at the second evening program and offer dance lessons in between musical sets at the JFK Library. The group will lead an educational session on Swing Era music and its significance in World War II, connecting with the special exhibit at the Library. This program is part of a summer Late Nights at the Library series at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Our Museum galleries, including the new special exhibit Service and Sacrifice: World War II – A Shared Experience, will be open free of charge from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Food and drink options will be available for purchase, and our Museum Store will be open. Since I was a kid in the 60’s I had always had an uneasy feeling about the Sumner/Callahan tunnels.
More so, when a 3000lb concrete panel dropped onto a family driving through the then new south station tunnel.
Any work under the Boston harbor is a recipe for disaster within the outlined time constraints.,
I believe it would take much longer to address issues with both tunnels.
In Pittsburgh, it’s the bridges that are falling down…with people on them !
