5 Things You Should Know This Week – August 23rd
Fruits and Veggies
Dick’s Market Garden will be on-site selling fresh fruit and veggies at the IDB Farm Stand. Every Monday from 12.30 to 5.30PM the IDB Farm Stand will be outside 23 Drydock offering produce grown at Dick’s 260+ acres in Lunenburg, MA. Shop for your favorite fruits and veggies or order a produce box for pick up through the IDB App ($25 or $40 options.)
School Supply Drive
Jake Harrison – a Southie resident and senior at Boston Latin School – has organized a school supply drive. Just because students will be working remotely doesn’t mean school supplies aren’t needed. You can drop off school supplies like notebooks, pencils, pens, even puzzles and board games to Evans Field (next to Murphy Skating Rink) on Wednesday, August 26th from 4pm-7pm.
Important Voting Information
It’s a presidential election year – and it’s an election year during a pandemic. So here is some helpful information for all you voters including deadlines, dates, early voting and vote-by-mail!
2nd Annual Colin’s Joy Birthday Giving Week
Colin’s Joy Project is just a week away from what would be Colin’s 5th birthday – which means it’s just two weeks away from the 2nd Annual Colin’s Joy Birthday Giving Week! Last year was a huge success for our local programs around Southie because of your generosity. Due to COVID this year, they can’t host our beach party to collect your “birthday gifts,” so an Amazon Wishlist has been created along with a local drop-off of donations. You can see the Wishlist here!
Let your kids get creative by tracing their handprint and adorning it in green, orange, or a combo of both! Place it in your window, snap a shot of their artwork, tag Colin’s Joy on Instagram or Facebook! For every that’s tagged, a $10 @amazon gift card will be sent to one of our partners for the giving week!
