The families of two doctors who were murdered last May in their South Boston condo have filed a wrongful death lawsuit. According to an article in The Boston Globe, the suit lists the trust that owns the the Macallen Building, the building’s management and security companies, and the company that formerly provided security for the building and employed the man Bampumim Teixeira, 30, of Chelsea who is accused of killing Dr. Richard Field , 49 and Dr. Lina Bolanos, 38.
The complaint also lists a number of security issues including that it allegedly took a security guard working at the front desk on the day of the murders about 20 minutes to call 911 after receiving a call about a gunman in the doctors’ condo.
Teixera was formally indicted for the murders in June. In a story that seems to be ripped from a Dateline, the details of the gruesome double murder on May 5th shocked the neighborhood. Dr. Richard Field was able to text a friend asking for help in the last moments of his life. When the Boston police arrived to the penthouse of 141 Dorchester Ave, both Field and Bolanos were dead. Both were found with hands bound and their throats cut.
Robbery is believed to be a motive.
