found dead

Stephen “Stippo” Rakes was found dead in Lincoln on Wednesday afternoon.  Rakes, 59, former South Boston resident, allegedly  had his South Boston liquor store, Rotary Liquors, extorted from him by James “Whitey” Bulger and Kevin Weeks in the 1980’s.  Looking forward to his day in court, Rakes was disappointed to learn on Tuesday that he was dropped as a witness by the prosecution.  His body was found on a dirt road with no visible signs of trauma.  

The cause of death has not been determined and is being investigated.
