Finding out his fate
The sentencing hearing of convicted mobster James “Whitey” Bulger will begin today, Wednesday, November 13th and continue through Thursday, November 14th. Whitey will now find out his fate – although we can pretty much guess that the 84 year-old will be spending the rest of his life behind bars.
This past August, after almost 33 hours of deliberations over five long days, the jury came back with a verdict and guilty was the word of the day in Judge Casper’s courtroom. Bulger was found guilty of 31 of the 32 counts of various racketeering, fire-arms, extortion, and money laundering charges. He was found guilty of 11 of the 19 murders charges.
The families of the victims will be allowed to address the court today and tomorrow. As to whether Whitey himself will speak, we shall find out.
