Come Sail Away! For the first time in three years, The USS Constitution is setting sail to celebrate the 242nd Navy’s birthday and the 220th anniversary of the Constitution’s first launch.
The world’s oldest commissioned warship will set sail from Charlestown Navy Yard on October 20th at 10am. and travel to Castle Island, for a good old fashioned 21-gun salute by 11:30am!
There will also be a 17-gun salute will be fired when “Old Ironsides” passes the U.S. Coast Guard station which is the former site of the shipyard where the Constitution was built and launched in way back in 1797.
