Tynan School Reminds Everyone The Racist Graffiti Incident is Still An Active Investigation.

With rumors running rampant around Southie and on social media about the Tynan School racist graffiti incident, BPS has released the following letter to parents reminding everyone that it is still an active investigation by the BPD. See below:

November 8, 2018
Dear Joseph P. Tynan School Families and Staff:

The last week has been difficult for the Joseph P. Tynan Elementary School and the entire Boston Public Schools (BPS) community. We remind everyone that the City of Boston and the Boston Public Schools will not tolerate hatred, discrimination, or bias of any kind.

We seek to remind our community members that the incident is still under active investigation by the Boston Police Department.

These incidents are in no way reflective of the safe, secure, and supportive environment the Tynan community and the Boston Public Schools are committed to fostering, nor the values we embody.

Since notifying the community about the incident, the Tynan school community has received an outpouring of support from fellow students, families, and countless community members. Principal Leslie Gant and I greatly appreciate the encouragement and consolation that the school has received over the past week.
I ask that staff and community members continue to support the Tynan while respecting the fact that our collective focus must be on the well-being and the preservation of their educational environment.

Sincerely,
Laura Perille,
Interim Superintendent

Inside job no doubt. All the signs are there of an attention seeker.

The best solution when these ridiculous graffiti remarks are painted is to paint over it. So often it is teens trying to get people to overreact. Racist people do suck most people agree. The haters be damned.

Can anyone speak to the comment someone made in relation to Reading High School that the Tynan School janitor may have been responsible?
