Two under arrest after breaking into the old St Vincent’s Church in South Boston

At approximately 11:50 pm on Wednesday, officers assigned to District C-6 (South Boston) arrested Michael Donovan, 37, of South Boston and Brendan Delaney, 50, of South Boston for a Burglary that occured at 363 E St, South Boston.

Officers responded to a 911 call for a breaking and entering at the church when the two suspects were observed by a witness entering the building from the side carrying 2 bags. Officers arrived on the scene and secured the perimeter of the building. As officers were preparing to make entry, the suspects exited the building from the side door and were immediately detained. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that both suspects had broken into the church to steal copper wire. The officers located the suspects’ bags they had entered the church with and it contained hand tools and numerous pieces of copper wire obtained from the building.

Both suspects were placed under arrest and charged with: Possession of Burglarious Instruments & Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime. Both suspects are expected to be arraigned at South Boston District Court.

    Perhaps they thought there was a Novena to St Vincent going on in the Church but with the doors locked they
    probably though it had already begun and decided to use alternative entrances. Thank God the BLUE ANGELS:
    COPS arrived in time to answer their prayers. Be careful what you pray for you might get it…they did!
