Over the river and through the woods, to grandmother’s house we go…or your parents, or aunts, or friends. Wherever you’re traveling, driving anywhere the week of Thanksgiving can be pretty nightmarish! The good people at Google have posted a helpful blog called Thanksgiving Turkey and Travel Tips! It’s chockfull of helpful information like the best day to leave for Thanksgiving travel and top trending Thanksgiving recipes and turkey cooking styles. You can check it out here! So as for travel – don’t leave the day before Thanksgiving.  And for returning home, don’t make a weekend out of it.  You need to leave on Friday – at the crack of dawn.  Cripes!  See cheat sheet below:

Best day to leave:
Sunday before Thanksgiving – preferably before 3pm.

Worst day to leave:
The day before Thanksgiving.  If you have to leave the day before – leave by 7am.

Best day to return:
The day after Thanksgiving (Friday) – early in the morning is the best!

Worst day to return:
The Saturday after Thanksgiving.  Again, if you have to leave Saturday – the earlier the better!
