Last week Attorney General Maura Healey gave the organizers of IndyCar Boston one week to reimburse ticket buyers for the canceled event or else! According to the Boston Globe, if the parties connected to the failed event don’t comply she will speed ahead with litigation. Well, apparently they met the end of day deadline of June 27th. According to a statement from Healey’s office, the promoters of the event have submitted some sort of reimbursement plan although no details have been revealed. Healey’s office will review the plan and will decide whether action against the promotors will be necessary in order to ensure that ticket holders are reimbursed.
It is believed that Healey will make a decision in the next few days. Healey also subpoenaed documents from Grand Prix of Boston – the local organization that sold thousands of tickets for the event. The reason for the records? To help figure out who bought tickets and where the heck all that money went!
The Boston Herald is reporting that Massport is suing Grand Prix Boston for sticking them with 2000 giant concrete barriers for the canceled event. What a mess!
