The Final Bell: How boxer “City Point Sicilian” is prepping for his final fight!

After spending thousands of hours in the gym since 1986, The City Point Sicilian is getting ready to hang up his gloves.
On November 15 at Encore Casino’s Boston Harbor Fight Night, Charlie LoGrasso, 57, will be stepping into the ring for what he thinks might be his last time, competitively.
But first? He has to train.
MOVIN’ AND GROOVIN’
At 4:00 in the morning, LoGrasso naturally wakes up, no alarm clock needed. He’s not the best sleeper to begin with, and no, it’s not because he is having nightmares about upcoming fights.
Breakfast is non-existent as he intermittently fasts, so once he’s ready, he hops on his bike to ride three miles into work and make it there by 7:30. Throughout the day, he’ll do some pull-ups on the break room door’s pull-up bar, but otherwise, he saves his real workout for the two hours he spends six days a week after work in the gym.
20 minutes of shadowboxing acts as his warm-up and then he gets into calisthenics, jump rope, the heavy bag, the speed bag and closes it out with some stretching.
On top of that, he runs 27 miles a week, and before you ask what his pump up playlist is…he doesn’t really do the whole music thing.
“If music is on in the gym, I don’t mind,” LoGrasso said. “But, when I’m running I like thinking about my life and being aware of my surroundings. I like seeing the seagull flying overhead.”
FUEL UP
You know how growing up, the best part of a playdate was getting to raid the pantry and see what kind of snacks they had that your mom wouldn’t keep in the house?
Well, you would probably look at LoGrasso’s pantry and think, wah-wah-waahhhh.
While training, he sticks to a low carb, high protein diet with a lot of fruits and veggies. He also follows an intermittent fasting schedule, so he doesn’t eat breakfast and he doesn’t eat past 6:00 PM.
For lunch every day, he has pita bread with unsalted turkey breast, cheese, lettuce and dijon mustard – sometimes he adds tomato if he’s feeling a little adventurous. He’ll top it off with one clementine and then he’ll try to be less strict with dinner.
“I try to stay away from pasta which is tough because my mother is an amazing cook and I eat at my parents’ house quite a few times a week,” he said.
Stay strong LoGrasso, only a few more weeks to go!
IT’S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN
Boxing will always be a part of his life, even if he isn’t competing anymore.
LoGrasso compares himself to the other adults who still participate in hockey or basketball leagues and sees no difference…“It’s just what I do.”
But, he’s at peace knowing that all of the time he spent training can now be spent with his daughters and granddaughter.
Besides, it’s always been a dream of his to fight at Encore. And, what makes this Fight Night even more special is that LoGrasso grew up with the headliner’s father here in Southie and still trains with his grandparents at the L Street Bathhouse. It just goes to show that those Southie roots really do run deep.

CLEANSE FROM CLEMENTINES
After he secures his third professional win, which he will — “I ain’t losing. No way. I’ve trained too hard,” –- LoGrasso plans on beelining it past the clementines and straight for a beer to wash down all the BBQ and Chinese food he’ll be eating.
He can say goodbye to the turkey breast sandwich and hello to as much of his mother’s pasta as he wants…that is…unless he decides to get back in the ring again. Which he would, for one person…
“If I could fight Jake Paul…I would stick around…and I’d beat him, too!”
