Tall Ship News: Capitan Miranda and USS Constitution

The Capitán Miranda – a tall ship of the Uruguayan Navy – is docked at Fan Pier through Friday. Tours are open to the public Tuesday – Thursday 2pm-6pm. The three-masted staysail schooner was originally acquired by the Uruguayan Navy as a survey ship in 1930 and remained in service until 1976. The ship was then repurposed as a training ship in 1978.
The USS Constitution will be making another turnaround on Friday, August 30th! Look for her on the water starting around 8 a.m. leaving Charlestown. A 21-gun salute will be off Fort Independence on Castle Island at approximately 9:45. She’ll be returning around 11:00 am to the Navy Yard and the newly selected chiefs will sing “Anchors Aweigh” for her return!
