Suspect in Custody After BPD Officers Recover Loaded Firearm, Drugs and Cash During Investigation in South Boston

BPD News:

At about 6:40 PM on Thursday June 15, 2023, officers assigned to the District C-6 (South Boston) Drug Control Unit along with members of the FBI Metro Boston Task Force arrested Jerry Carrasquillo, 39, of Boston, on firearm and drug related charges during an investigation in the area of Boston Street and Howell Street in South Boston. The officers performed a traffic stop of a vehicle that the suspect was traveling in as a passenger after they observed him perform a street level drug transaction near the McCormick Housing Development. The suspect was placed in custody without incident after officers recovered a loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun, a large plastic bag containing five smaller bags of crack cocaine, one plastic bag containing powdered cocaine and $892.00 in U.S. Currency from the suspect and from the area inside the vehicle where he had been seated.

The suspect will appear in South Boston District Court on multiple charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (3rd and Subsequent), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm while in Commission of a Felony, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Armed Career Criminal Level 2 and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs (2 Counts).
