Will this be the end of towing?

The Boston City Council will vote on Wednesday for a pilot program for a new initiative that will eliminate towing for street sweeping and increase the fine for not moving a vehicle from $40 to $90 in certain areas of the city.  Back in April, Mayor Marty Walsh filed this new ordinance and urged the city council to vote in favor of it without delay.  The mayor also signed a similar ordinance that created a pilot program to raise fines for parking tickets during Fenway Park events in the Fenway and Kenmore Square area. This pilot program also increased fines for non-residents parking in resident-only spots from $40 to $100.  Hmmm…maybe they should do that in Southie?

No word on which neighborhoods will have the pilot program yet.  Stay tuned for more details.
