State of the City: Mayor Marty Walsh

Did you tune in on Tuesday night to watch Mayor Marty Walsh make his State of the City address? With a very presidential candidate-like vibe, the mayor addressed housing, crime, climate change, schools, homelessness, addiction and threw a few digs at the White House.  “The State of the City is strong,” declared Walsh.  He also mentioned that he and Governor Charlie Baker will be taking their show on the road.

“We have a Republican-led Senate and a Democratic House. So we’ll go to Washington with a united front and call for the investments in housing, transit, and the environment that our future depends on. Instead of building a wall, let’s show them how to build bridges,” said Walsh.

We have a feeling the mayor could be setting his sights on a new political position.  We shall see.

If if you missed the State of The City, the Boston Globe has the transcripts here!

9 American flags behind him. Not a single City of Boston flag at a ‘State of the City’ address ? I think you’re onto something.
