St. Patrick’s Day Parade News: 2019 Slogan revealed
It’s coming! We’re five months away from the 2019 St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Sunday, March 17th and parade organizers – the South Boston Allied War Veterans Council – have revealed this year’s slogan! “For our Heritage. For our Heroes. For our Hometown.” We love it!
“The South Boston parade is meant to commemorate Evacuation Day and honor military service, as well as to celebrate Irish heritage in conjunction with St. Patrick’s Day. The council was inspired to create a theme for the 2019 parade to emphasize that, more than ever, this remains the bedrock of the South Boston St. Patrick’s Day / Evacuation Day Parade. We are committed, not only to continuing this great annual tradition, but improving how we run the parade to ensure it’s something South Boston can be proud of,” said Dave Falvey, Commander of the AWVC.
Bryan Bishop, director of parade operations is now accepting registrations for parade participants. Hmmm…maybe Caught in Southie will have a float this year? You can register here!
We also hear the “Mayor of Southie” competition will return this year as a fundraising effort to support the parade! Stay tuned for more details!
The Allied War Veterans Council will host their 2nd Annual Veterans Day Social at Sixth Gear on Saturday, November 10th from 6pm-9pm. Stop by and show your support!
