Be Aware

Just a Caught in Southie reminder to be aware of your surroundings when walking home by yourself in South Boston.  The other night, a Southie resident was mugged at the corner of L and East Broadway.  At approximately 10:45 a young woman was getting off the bus to walk home.  She was carrying her phone when someone on a bike came by and ripped it out of her hand and stole it.  She reported it to the police.

Be aware of who’s around you.

Be safe, Southie!

Special thank you to Stephanie for sharing this story.

Are we sure this isn’t a report by someone who is opposed to bike lanes? After all if there were bike lanes there be more muggers on bikes

Put the phones down and for the last time, look around you. It is so self-indulgent…and rude to have a phone stuck to your ear all the time…and dangerous. You bump into people, walk in front of cars, and can be killed. It’s up to you.

Just an observation.  Even after the Amy Lord abduction and murder I have not seen any decrease in use of personnal electronics among young women.  I thought this would change bad habits.  It seems not.
