Here’s what new in Southie’s politics scene:

Register to Vote:
The deadline to register to vote is Wednesday, October 16th.  Municipal Election will be held November 5th, 2013.  Municipal Election for Mayor, City Councillors At-Large and District City Councillors. Polls will be open 7AM-8PM.

The Ellis South End Neighborhood Association is hosting a Candidate Forum for City Council District 2 (Bill Linehan and Suzanne Lee) and At-Large City Council candidates on Wednesday, October 16th at 6:00pm.  The forum will be moderated by Sue O’Connell, editor of the South End News.

District 2 City Council:

Councilor Bill Linehan will be honored by the Gavin Foundation for his support of the foundation and the recovery community at their anniversary dinner on Thursday, October 24th at Florian Hall.  Councilor Linehan was also instrumental in helping the  Gavin Foundation keep the Walsh Center – an important organization that provides activities for preteens and teens in South Boston – to stay open.

Suzanne Lee has announced that United Auto Workers MA Region 9A, and Right To The City Vote Boston have endorsed her candidacy for Boston City Council District 2.

Senator Linda Dorcena Forry will announce today at 12:15pm her endorsement for State Representative Marty Walsh for mayor of Boston.  State Rep. Nick Collins has endorsed City Councilor John Connolly.
