This is probably not news to those living here in Southie but this new scoop made us realize this is not our father’s South Boston. According to Zumper.com, the South Boston Waterfront is getting an average of $3000 a month for rent. Southie averages about $2500 for a one bedroom – yes, a one bedroom.
The article also goes on to say that Boston is the 4th most expensive city to rent in the USA – right behind San Franciso, New York city and San Jose.
This is the reason we must build MORE “Luxury” Apartments! The more top shelf supply becomes available, the more affordable average homes become. Did I mention that the new stuff is “Luxurious?” Really nice stuff…granite…stainless steel….bamboo floors!! Oh My.
