South Boston tops the list for most 311 reports filed for Moving Day season in Boston.

Finally, Boston media has caught on to what we’ve known for the past few years: Southie is way worse than Allston for Moving Day chaos. Now the 311 data is backing it up!
According to the Boston Globe, the #1 neighborhood for the most 311 complaints from August 27 to September 3, with 151, is…drumroll, please…South Boston!
Allston/Brighton didn’t even clear the top 5. Here’s how that list played out:
South Boston 151
South End 148
Beacon Hill 127
Dorchester 94
North End 91
The article reports that “South Boston has become an emerging hotspot as more students and young professionals move there.” Emerging, it is THE hotspot.
We do have to to give the City of Boston Department of Public Works credit for doing a great job clearing out all that trash during moving season in South Boston!
We want to know – did you get anything good during “Southie Christmas?” Let us know in the comments below!

I didn’t get anything, but don’t understand why people call 311. People moving in, People moving out. They leave the furniture they don’t want and lots of messy trash. It happens every year. Why clog up 311. It will get removed on trash day. Calling 311, they can’t go after the offenders, they’re already gone.
Because there are plenty of wheelchair users that need to use the sidewalk to get around and furniture, mattresses, and excessive trash block their paths.
Sadly, this is not a record to be celebrated or to be proud of. Much of the trash is left to spill onto the sidewalks. This makes it difficult if not impossible for walking, especially for older longtime residents. That is the reason for the 311 reports.
The public works people went above and beyond cleaning up the piles of trash . Their job was not easy.
Thanks for the explanation of calling 311. Now I understand.
