Way to go, boys!

Southie won its first title in 13 years (2011) against Norwood in the South Shore Senior Babe Ruth Finals on Wednesday, 4 to 1.

South Boston opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two singles. Tristin Pecevich was first on the board by getting a single and scoring one run.

Pitcher Jerry O’Neil opened the game for South Boston, giving up one hit and one run (zero earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking none.  Relief Pitcher Robert Martinez helped with the victory thanks to only one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out four and walking one.

Leadoff hitter Joe Greene had two hits in three at-bats. Tommy Flaherty, Stephen Flynn, Pevich, and Ronan Carlson each drove in one run for Southie, with Greene stealing two bases.

Special thanks to coaches Billy Connor and Donnie Brooks (yes, that’s really his name).

Southie turned the season around and claimed victory after starting the season 1-3-1.
