South Boston Pop Warner 2020 Season is cancelled

See Press Release Below:

South Boston Pop Warner has made the difficult decision to cancel its 2020 season for cheer and football.  With heavy hearts, the board of directors voted unanimously to suspend the season.  South Boston Pop Warner has served children from South Boston and surrounding communities for over twenty years and look forward to welcoming back its scholar athletes and their families back next season.

The Board of South Boston Pop Warner issued the following letter to participating families:

South Boston Pop Warner Families,

Due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and the risk to our scholar athletes, families, volunteers, and fans, the board of South Boston Pop Warner dolefully voted to cancel the 2020 season.  This decision was not made lightly, but is the result of much thought and discussion.  We have considered all options and it is just not possible to run a safe and productive season for neither cheer nor football.

There is no compromise when it comes to health and safety whether on the mats or the field.  This program, its board, and volunteers have always put the safety and well-being of our children and families first.

The board will continue to monitor the situation and explore all options to create suitable programming as conditions allow.  Please stay safe,  stay in touch, and we look forward to seeing you all very soon!
