South Boston 10U jumped out to an early lead Saturday and held on late, defeating Dorchester 5–4 after a tense comeback attempt in the final innings.

South Boston built a 5–0 advantage through three innings, using timely hitting, smart baserunning, and strong pitching to take control of the game. Dorchester did not go quietly, cutting into the deficit with a late surge powered by a home run and a triple.

South Boston opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning. Tommy W singled up the middle to bring in the first run, and Sawyer P followed with a productive groundout to make it 2–0.

The lead grew in the second when Luke C delivered a key single down the left-field line, driving in two more runs. South Boston added another run in the third on a groundout by Michael D, pushing the score to 5–0.

That early cushion proved to be just enough.

Dorchester battled back and made it a one-run game, but South Boston’s pitching and defense held firm. Michael I was strong in relief, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. He struck out four and did not issue a walk.

Luke C led the South Boston offense from the ninth spot in the order, driving in two runs and finishing 1-for-2. Tommy W and Frank Z each collected two hits, helping South Boston keep pressure on Dorchester throughout the game.

South Boston was also aggressive on the bases, stealing six bags as a team. George Y and Frank Z each stole multiple bases.

Dorchester was led by Aidan H, who collected two hits in two at-bats. Connor P and Aidan H each drove in two runs. Dorchester also played clean defense, committing no errors in the game.

Despite Dorchester’s late push, South Boston 10U did enough early and finished strong when it mattered most, securing a hard-fought 5–4 victory.
