Remember last month when Southie residents went bananas about the proposed project to tear down the single family at 202 M Street and replace is with condos?  Well, the developers have withdrawn their initial plans and replaced it with a new and – most would say – improved plan.

The project was set to be heard by the Zoning Board of Appeals Tuesday, but the initial plan was withdrawn last minute.  According to the Boston Herald, over 200 abutters and neighbors submitted a petition to the ZBA opposing the project.  A new plan was then submitted in which the single family will stay and another single family will be built on the same lot, facing Marine Road.

The sale of the land has not been finalized.

So there you have it!

Great news! Finally the residents are heard and actually taken in to consideration. This is new and not something that had happened in the past. For so many years regardless of what the residents wanted or did not want it did not matter.

Yeah, we won this battle but lost the war. 1,600 units coming to the old Edison plant.
