Martin Walsh is our new mayor-elect! Walsh beat out City Councilor Connolly with 52 percent to 48 percent. In January, Walsh will usher in a new era of politics – Tom Menino has been mayor for the past 20 years. What we love about Marty? His love of working families and his fabulous Boston accent.
For City Councilor at-Large two women topped the ticket. Incumbent Ayanna Pressley and Michelle Wu came in first and second respectively followed by son of Southie Michael Flaherty and City Council President Stephen Murphy.
In the District 2 City Council race between Bill LInehan and Suzanne Lee, Linehan was victorious last night and will keep his seat as our city councilor. Linehan won by over 1000 votes.
So that’s it, Southie to quote my father from last night, “Happy days are here again. A chicken in every pot. It’s great that the irish are back in power.” This fact is killing local media.
