Last week, Senator Linda Dorcena Forry announced her decision to leave her seat and take a job with Suffolk Construction at the northeast region’s vice president for diversity inclusion and community relations.

State Representative and South Boston resident Nick Collins announced Friday that will be running for the First Suffolk Senate district which covers the neighborhoods of South Boston and Dorchester.

Earlier this week both State Rep. Dan Cullinane and City Councilor at-Large Annissa Essaibi George announced that they will not be running for this seat at much consideration. State Rep. Evandro Carvalho, is strongly considering running and should make a decision by next week.

So there you go, a special election! The primary is April 3rd.

Glad to see my friend Nick Collins decided to run for Senate, a great candidate who has already done so much for the community and beyond.

Is anyone else from Southie going to run and split the vote so the candidate from Dorchester wins?
