Buckle up, commuters!

Red Line service will be suspended between Kendall/MIT and JFK/UMass on July 10 – 13 and July 17 – 20.

Beginning at approx. 8:30PM on Thursday, July 10, and all day every day, for the next three days (July 11 – 13) and beginning again and approx. 8:30PM on Thursday, July 17, and all day every day, for the next three days (July 18 – 20).

  • Free and accessible shuttle bus service will make all stops between Kendall/MIT and JFK/UMass, with the exception of Park Street. Shuttle buses will also serve State (Orange and Blue Line connections) and Haymarket (Orange and Green Line connections) for easier connections to other subway lines. Riders using shuttle buses during this service change should budget ample extra traveling time.
  • The City of Boston will be offering 5 free BlueBikes during this closure, while supplies lasts. Use code MBTAREDJUL10 for the July 10 – 13 closure and code MBTAREDJUL17 for the July 17 – 20 closure. See the Bicycle Information tab for a suggested bike route.

There will be free fares with the fare gates open at JFK/UMass, Kendall/MIT, Haymarket, State, and South Station.

Riders are encouraged to consider fare-free Commuter Rail service between Braintree and South Station, as well as between Porter and North Station.
