there’s an app for that

In the spirit of Small Business Saturday Mayor Menino announced a new partnership with Main and Me, a web and mobile company dedicated to helping local, independent, businesses grow. Shoppers will now be able to “virtually” window shop the goods & services offered in local businesses from a new dedicated website (www.mainandme.com/communities/boston-ma) or from a smart phone or tablet with a new app.

“Social media has played a central role in helping small business owners expand their customer base, and this new tool will bring greater marketing power to our Main Street districts,” Mayor Menino said. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and this partnership with Main and Me is another example of how Boston is helping local merchants to access new technologies and better compete in a global economy.”

You can also create a holiday wish list so your friends and family can find that perfect gift.  Main and Me Boston also allows shoppers to do a little browsing via technology at the 20 Boston Main Streets districts before heading to the shop to make an in-store purchase.  Bottom line – this new technology helps promote small business and it’s so important to shop local and support our local businesses.

So check out this new technology today and do some shopping in Southie for Small Business Saturday.
