Problem Properties in Southie: An Update

Southie City Councilors are not messing around
A few weeks ago, City Councilor Ed Flynn hosted a community meeting to discuss problem properties and quality of life issues in the neighborhood. You can read our recap here.
Well, over this past weekend, the City of Boston’s Inspectional Service Department (ISD)was in full force – with Flynn along for the ride – investigating problem properties for having large house parties, trash removal issues plus quality of life concerns. Many absentee landlords were sent notices.
Flynn announced on Monday, that he, along with City Councilor-at-large Michael Flaherty calling for hearing this week to escalate fines: 1st offense-$1000, 2nd-$2000, 3rd-$3000.
