Believe it or not, the Election Department is still counting votes.

On Tuesday, voters went to the polls to cast their votes for Mayor of Boston, City Councilor-at-Large and in some cases district councilor. Once again, voter turnout was very low – roughly only 19% of registered voters actually voted. (We need to do better.)

Three and half hours after the polls closed, there the Election Department still hadn’t announced the election results but that didn’t stop the follow:

Shortly after 10pm, Michelle Wu announces that she was confident she would be in the final two spots. A few hours later, Wu releases a press release that declares her victory as the number 1 spot.

11:35pm, Andrea Campbell concedes.

11:00 pm  – Kim Janey still hasn’t showed up to her Election Night Party and by 11:45pm, campaign announces she will not be speaking.  After midnight, Janey concedes via statement.

12:30am – Annissa Essaibi George speaks at her post election party that she is looking forward to a race with Wu.

So although nothing official has been announced by the Election Department, it appears that it will be Wu vs. Essaibi George in the general election held on November 2nd. But again – nothing etched in stone.

Here are the unofficial results of City Council-at Large (Top 8) via WCVB:

District 4 will be Brian Worrell and Evandro Carvalho in the general election. In the District 6 race Kendra Hicks and Mary Tame and District 7 – Tania Anderson.  Incumbent Liz Breadon won with 74%.
