Pine Street Inn will turn hotel into shelter at Mass & Cass
Pine Street Inn will lease the old Best Western Plus, located at 891 Massachusetts Ave, and turn it into a temporary homeless shelter. This area also known as Methadone Mile is known for active drug use, treatment clinics, and homelessness.
According to WBUR, its part of a plan to avoid shelter overcrowding and another surge of COVID-19.
One-hundred-eighty shelter guests currently staying in a Suffolk University dorm will be moving there. The year lease will begin next month.
