From BPD News:
At about 4:11pm on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, officers assigned to C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a larceny in progress where two males were observed stealing packages in the area of I Street and East Third Street.

A few moments later, an off-duty police officer advised responding units that he observed individuals fitting the suspects’ descriptions walking down I Street near East Second Street. Responding units located the two male suspects, identified as Nicholas Bennett, 26, and Kevin Berry, 31, both of South Boston, holding unopened packages in front of 555 East Second Street.

Officers could clearly see one of the packages was addressed to a female, and when asked how the suspects knew the female, Berry told the officers he found the package in the snow. Upon further investigation, officers observed several torn packages only a few feet away from both suspects.  All packages were addressed to various locations along I street, and none of which was addressed to the suspects.

Officers were able to recover several stolen packages containing various items, including electronics and clothing worth than more than $1,000.00.

Officers arrested both Bennett and Berry and charged them with Larceny from a building (five counts), Receiving Stolen Property over $250 (two counts), and Receiving Stolen Property less than $250 (three counts). Bennett and Berry will be arraigned at South Boston District Court.

Two of these officers played for O’Brien & Sons Little League team. Guess I taught them how to catch someone stealing.
