One step closer to Verizon Fios
Can you hear me now? Looks like we can say good riddance to Comcast Xfinity and say hello to better service with Verizon! Mayor Marty Walsh announced on Tuesday the City of Boson has issued Final Cable Television (CATV) License to Verizon! Replacing copper-based infrastructure with a new fiber optic network platform, will help improve our bandwidth and speeds. Thank God!
So is Southie getting this new technology first? Well, considering a new fleet of Verizon vehicles will be housed in Southie and traveling in an out of our neighborhood, we should be first, right? (This is a whole other story – more to follow.) Well, it’s estimated Southie won’t feel the effect of the new high speed internet/bandwidth for a few years! Verizon will be starting with Dorchester, West Roxbury and Dudley square area neighborhoods. And so we wait with bated breath!
