On Saturday, the Unveiling of the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center in South Boston

The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) is pleased to announce that the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) will be named at a formal dedication ceremony on Saturday, July 12, as the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center in honor of Thomas Menino, who served as Mayor of Boston from 1993 to 2014. Mayor Menino was the city’s longest-serving mayor and champion of the convention center building.  

The program will feature remarks from elected officials and community leaders, musical performances, and an unveiling of the convention center’s new name. The celebration continues into the afternoon with a block party on the Lawn on D. 

WHEN:  

Saturday, July 12

  • Doors Open: 10:00 AM
  • Program Begins: 11:00 AM

WHERE:

The program will take place in the front lobby of the convention center, followed by a celebratory barbecue at the Lawn on D.  415 Summer Street in South Boston.
