In addition to over 7500 Eversource customers (mostly Dorchester) losing power during the daytime on Sunday, another 1500 in South Boston lost theirs in the evening. Around 7:40pm on Sunday, power went out sections of the City Point neighborhood between L and Farragut Road and did not return for some residents until almost 24 hours later! Good grief!
“This historic heat wave has driven high demand for electricity for nearly a week as people continue to turn up their ACs to stay cool—on top of typical electric use,” Eversource said via statement. “As the electric system works continuously to meet this high demand in extreme heat—especially over several consecutive days—the equipment can become stressed—causing localized issues and outages.”
Thank you to Deja Brew for providing us with WIFI, power and coffee while we worked remotely!
